It’s been another busy month, so much so that I’ve been frantically editing the photos I took over the month tonight just in-time to join in with this wonderful Moments that Matter circle I am a part of.

This month, something kept playing on my mind, I need to document the things that captivate me as the mother of my two boys. Those things being, their eyes, their wonder. The way they look at me. The way they still play like little boys yet, they’d like to think they are big boys now. The way my youngest nearly every morning, climbs into bed with me for snuggles. I feel completely out of control with time at the moment. So whenever they do these things that make me melt, I constantly think I never want to forget them. So for this month, this is what mattered to me.

It’s always so lovely to hear from past clients and to hear of the news that they have had another baby. When I heard from this lovely family, telling me the news they had twins, I was beyond excited for them. I was also beyond excited to be asked back to their family home to do their Newborn Twins Photography Lifestyle Session.

When I arrived at their family home, I was greeted by two “big brother’s” that I’d previously met two years ago. Mr 5 hadn’t changed a bit (only in inches). I could see within seconds, he still had bounds of energy (well actually more), like he had the last time I met him. Mr 2, well he had changed and grown so much. He was just a newborn baby the last time I met him. He now was a partner in crime for his bigger brother and their bond was clear, right from first glance.

They guided me in to see their new baby brother and sister, their little proud faces told me they were pretty excited to have another two siblings to play with, torment a bit, cuddle a bit and soon they’d all be running through their house with bounds of energy. Right now, they were so peaceful, and innocent, but with these two boys to show them the ropes in life, I don’t know how long that peacefulness will last for.

So while their baby twins were still so sleepy and peaceful, I decided to photograph them as they were to start with. Meanwhile getting plenty of assistance from Mr 5 and Mr 2. Once it was time for their feed, I asked the boys to help me wake them up. They were adorable, they were so soft and gentle with them. Proving to me even more so, they were proud as punch of their little comrades.

Once fully awake and vocal cords clearly in-tact, Mum and Dad took the twins to a quiet place to be fed and I stayed with those noisy boys to play with them. They remind me so much of my own boys, extreme energy, which meant I had to keep up with them. They had me on the bed, under the bed, under the kitchen table and dancing in the kitchen, we had a blast together. My cheeks were sore from laughing so much, I think their’s were too.

Then once the twins were fed and calm, we continued the session with such a beautiful family, filled with love and a beautiful connection.

It’s for these reasons I love Lifestyle Photography. I let the session run the way it suits each family. I embrace chaos and celebrate it. It’s because of this relaxed setting, that the real moments of connection and love shine through, nothing is forced. What a beautiful way to remember such a special time in your family’s lives.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the the FUNNIEST FAMILY EVER in an Extended Family Photography Session. Yes thats right, they were an absolute blast!

In all my Family Photography Sessions, my goal is to have loads of fun. In an Extended Family Photography Session, it’s very important to have plenty of laughter, so the captures are natural and organic. The larger the group, the harder it can be to get those natural smiles from everyone.

Well… this was NOT a problem for this crazy family. Soon into the session, I asked them if they don’t mind a “little” bit of running? They jumped at the opportunity and from then on the fun just took over. They had me running backwards up the beach, shooting as they ran directly into me, never stopping until I almost fell over. My cheeks were sore, I’m sure theirs were too. I also had to wonder if I wasn’t the only one with aching muscles the next day from all that running.

Another thing I got out of this amazing session, was admiration. The connection, love and pure joy this family had for one another was utterly beautiful. If I can have half this relationship with my boys when they grow to be adults, I’ll be one happy Mummy.

This session was gifted to their Mum as a Mother’s Day gift, and their Mum told me later on, it was the best gift she has ever received. That made my day.

If you’re looking at booking in an Extended Family Session for your Family, please get in contact. I’d be delighted to help.

I was recently asked by a lovely family in Melbourne if, as a Sydney/Sutherland Shire based Family and Newborn Lifestyle photographer, do I travel? My answer was a eager YES.

So in February this year, I travelled to beautiful Melbourne to meet this lovely family and photograph their new baby girl.

We planned for a mixed session. Starting with an in home lifestyle session, I captured their lives with their new baby girl. A new baby Sister, to play with, to hold hands with, to dote over and to cuddle, sometimes a little too tight. Her big sister was full of energy, showing me every room of the house, showing me her dance moves, her fast running, and ALL of her toys. When she watched her baby sister, it was beyond adorable. The way she touched her, held her hand. If this little bubba grows up to be half as energetic as her big sis, Mum and Dad are going to have their hands full.

Then we finished the session in this surprise vineyard in the middle of their community, right next to a lovely play ground. Such an unexpected find, but a find that had me gushing with excitement the minute I laid my eyes on it. This was the perfect way to end an already amazing session. We embraced the energy of big sis and played chase through the vines and danced until the sun went down.

An amazing family and a phenomenal session. To say I was bursting to get back to Sydney to go through the images was an understatement.

So If you have been wondering if I travel, I do, and I love it. To see new places and meet more lovely families is a true pleasure.

Please feel welcome to get in contact, I’d love to meet you.

What a month it’s been. We finally welcomed the sunshine back after a very wet March. The boys have just returned to school after two and half weeks of school holidays, and gosh did we jam pack those weeks, full to the brim.

We’re still discovering our new neighbourhood, so I took the boys to a new beach (at sunset of course) for a “play” 😉

The boys went through a short phase of acting like teenagers with headphones in and their dad’s old sunglasses on. Plus the “Teenager” attitude. This only lasted a few LONG days… thank goodness!

Our six year old, who had a well loved trade mark for the past 3 years, of missing the one front tooth. Lost his second front tooth, due to natural causes (unlike the first one).

We had family stay over Easter and the boys got to finally meet their baby cousin who stole their hearts and had them asking me to “lay a baby” which is the new joke around the house. My nine year old promises me, if I “lay a baby”, he will quit school and look after it for me. Tempting…

We took the boys to our new local Easter Show, and they had a blast. Who needs to travel a few hours for the real deal, when you can have hours of fun at your local which is just 5 minutes away!

The BMX bikes that were collecting dust in the shed, were pulled back out and are all the rage again. Making me realise they have slightly out grown these bikes, so this might be next on the wish list. The wish list that keeps growing and growing!

There was more skateboarding, more baking, lots of chocolate eaten, more laughter and surprisingly less brotherly banter this month. So I’d have to say, it was pretty fantastic!

On a creative note, I stepped away from the rule books with my photography. I tried free lensing, panning and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve loved this blog circle for this reason and many more.

This recent set of Maternity and Newborn Photography Session’s in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire were just beautiful. On the day of this lovely couples Maternity Session, we had the most amazing conditions. The light was perfect and Sydney put on the best sky display, just for us. It was all so perfect.

I think pregnancy is so beautiful and I love photographing this special occasion for the expecting couple, and this session was no exception.

A few months down the track and I was told of the wonderful news of the arrival of their little baby boy. Wasn’t he a delight. So little and so calm, his little stretches had me every time.

This In Home Newborn Photography Session completed their beautiful story of the birth of their baby, naturally and beautifully. All in the comfort of their own home.

I have been asked to join in with a group of talented photographers in sharing a personal blog once a month. A blog of images that I’ve taken throughout the month that are personal to me. I was really excited about the opportunity for many reasons, one being it will force me to take more photos of my two boys. Well, that was a much bigger challenge than I imagined.

Lately, I’ve been taking less photos of my kids, purely because of life being so busy. It’s something I said I’d never do, let life get in the way of capturing my own memories. Yet in my heart, I let it happen, I let myself down.

So, I promise you and myself that in future months, I’ll push myself to keep capturing the special moments in my family’s life, because it’s incredibly important to me and I also think its important to my boys to look back on as they grow.

So, this month has been pretty wet, which has kept my two active boys inside, far more than any of us would like. Although, it’s also made us appreciate the sunshine that little bit more. We literally would peer out the windows in the morning and take a big breath of relief if we were greeted with sunshine.

On the sunny days, we got out! We played, we ran, we jumped and we climbed. Still new to our neighbourhood, we found a new playground and the flying fox was a huge success. Then on the rainy days we cooked yummy treats. The fridge was a revolving door for one little hungry bee in the house, who didn’t understand why if he opened the door of the fridge in 5 minutes time, there wouldn’t be a new collection of food to eat??

We celebrated a 9th Birthday in the house too, I still cant believe he is actually 9 years old!!! Where does the time go? He needed an iPad for school (how lucky is he!), so that was his birthday present, which i have to say, has saved us on some of there wet days.

All in all, it was an eventful month and I’m thankful for this lovely group who inspired me to take more photos than I would have otherwise.

I think most of us could tell you at-least one favourite thing about their job. As a Lifestyle Family Photographer, I’m lucky enough to have many favourite things. One of them would be meeting such lovely families. When a family asks me back to record more precious memories for them, it’s an absolute buzz and a true honour.

Just over a year ago, this lovely family asked me to photograph the beauty of their blooming pregnancy and soon after the early days of their first born. Now, just one day after his first birthday, they asked me to photograph this special time in their lives, at the same location I first met them.

To see their little boy again is such a lovely treat for me. I’m always amazed how at first glance, I’m immediately taken back to their newborn session. Even though, this little face is now one year older, his eyes, his lips and special characteristics are all just the same to me and I immediately recognise him.

It’s also lovely to see how this young family have grown over the past year. When I first met them, everything was so new, uncertain, yet incredibly exciting. Now, its still new, uncertain and exciting for new reasons. Yet there is a feeling of comfort and certainty that has grown within them. It is lovely to see, almost like a graduation in the first steps of parenthood.

If you would like to see some of the captures from this family’s first sessions with me, please follow this link. Although, you must treat yourself and have a browse through these beautiful images. I can see their bond and connection just bursting out at me.

I hope you can too…
