Family Maternity Photography Shoot

I’m often asked when a family wishes to book a maternity photography session, if the whole family can be involved. As in hubby, toddler, maybe two toddlers and maybe even a dog, or a cat, or a rabbit or let’s get brave… a house! Guess what my answer is… YES of course! I mean they need to be there! We are celebrating this beautiful baby coming into the world while embracing this gorgeous bump and this blooming body. A baby that’s already baking in Mama‘s tummy, has a beautiful family who’s so excited to be united on earth side. It’s no question the whole family needs to be included in the shoot. 

The style of my maternity family shoots is a mix of family shots and then celebrating bump shots of just Mama and her beautiful bump.

The way each family maternity session plays out is different for every individual family but for this one, it started with some adventures while walking through the amazing scenery. This lovely family had never visited this location I took them to before, they loved it. Embracing that feeling of adventure, discovering new obstacles to climb and explore. Little T was in heaven, we made this part of the session feel like it was all about him. Yet, the main reason for the photography session was to capture that blooming belly. Mumma was carrying a little human, a brother or a sister for little T. A tiny addition, who’s going to complete this beautiful family. After capturing all the adventurous, fun and loving family shots, we went on to capture some gorgeous images of just Mumma and her beautiful blooming belly. 

I love to get creative during this part of the session. There is something about celebrating an expecting mothers growing belly that gets all my creative vibes flowing. We had so much fun on this sunny afternoon, it was filled with laughter, adventure, intimacy, connection and plenty of creativity.

So if you’re expecting your first bub, or you’re expecting you sixth. Maybe you already have a fur family. No matter how big or small, everyone is included in your session. It’s all about celebrating and welcoming this baby into your world, and capturing those last few weeks of your gorgeous pregnancy.
